AI readiness. AGI readiness. ASI readiness. One day to replace vague anticipation with a public plan for human agency, democratic control, and institutional readiness.

Why January 7

A working session, not a prediction market.

We do not need consensus on when AGI or ASI will arrive to agree that present systems already affect work, culture, education, security, privacy, and political power. Readiness means building the public institutions before they are needed.

This gathering will bring critics and builders into the same process, examine the evidence behind current warnings, define measurable readiness states, and assign work that continues after the room clears.

Three horizons · One public

Prepare for what is here—and what may follow.

TRACK 01 / AI NOW

Govern the systems already here.

Current harms are not a rehearsal. The first track centers people living with automated decisions today.

  • Work, displacement, and bargaining power
  • Creator consent and synthetic media
  • Education, childhood, and dependency
  • Privacy, surveillance, and persuasion
  • Human appeal and right of refusal
TRACK 02 / AGI THRESHOLD

Define the tripwires.

Readiness requires shared evidence standards and named actions before capabilities outrun institutions.

  • Capability and autonomy indicators
  • Independent evaluations and access
  • Incident disclosure requirements
  • Compute, security, and model custody
  • Pause, containment, and continuity plans
TRACK 03 / ASI HORIZON

Keep humanity in the constitution.

Systems beyond broad human capability would raise questions no company or country can answer alone.

  • Human sovereignty and non-delegation
  • International verification
  • Emergency authority and its limits
  • Plural values and civilizational consent
  • Long-term stewardship

What leaves the room

Defined win states.

The event succeeds only if it produces public artifacts, owners, and deadlines.

01

Public readiness scorecard

A measurable picture of preparedness across government, labs, infrastructure, labor, education, and civil society.

02

Incident review standard

A proposal for independent access, disclosure timelines, evidence preservation, public reporting, and dissent.

03

Council charter 1.0

Membership, powers, conflicts, compensation, public participation, appeals, moratoriums, and review.

04

AI use covenant

Rules for consent, attribution, data, synthetic media, political persuasion, human review, and red lines.

05

Three 90-day projects

Each project leaves with a named owner, collaborators, budget need, milestone, and public check-in date.

06

Open disagreement record

Unresolved arguments are published honestly instead of being flattened into artificial consensus.

Who should be in the room

The people carrying the consequences.

No single ideology and no industry majority. Participation is designed around tension that produces accountable work.

AI critics and refusers

Artists, organizers, researchers, and communities who believe some uses should not exist.

Workers and labor

People whose jobs, autonomy, wages, surveillance, and bargaining power are already changing.

Safety and security

Evaluators, cybersecurity practitioners, alignment researchers, auditors, and incident responders.

Civil rights and disability

Advocates focused on discrimination, access, privacy, due process, and human appeal.

Educators and young people

Those navigating learning, development, dependency, authorship, and childhood in real time.

Builders and public servants

People responsible for systems, laws, procurement, deployment, and democratic accountability.

How the day works

Evidence before theater.

RULE 01

Claims carry sources

Measured fact, expert judgment, forecast, and speculation remain visibly distinct.

RULE 02

Criticism has power

Skeptical participants can change the agenda, charter, and proposed prohibitions.

RULE 03

No secret funding

Sponsors, conflicts, financial relationships, and material support are disclosed.

RULE 04

No synthetic consensus

AI does not vote, represent absent communities, or manufacture the appearance of support.

RULE 05

People own the decisions

AI may assist documentation; accountable humans own every conclusion and commitment.

RULE 06

Work continues

Outputs, owners, deadlines, dissent, and progress updates remain public after January 7.

Planning group now forming

Help design the room before joining it.

We are seeking participants, facilitators, skeptical reviewers, public-interest partners, and technical experts. Format, venue, capacity, and participation details will be announced after the founding planning group is formed.

Questions worth asking

Before the room opens.

Is this a pro-AI event?

No. It is a readiness event. Some participants will support rapid development; others will argue for restrictions, refusal, or prohibition. The purpose is to give those conflicts a legitimate public process and produce decisions people can inspect.

Is AGI or ASI assumed to be imminent?

No. Timing claims remain uncertain. The event separates current evidence, forecasts, scenarios, and speculation while asking what preparations are justified across more than one timeline.

Will AI run the event?

No. AI may assist research, accessibility, and documentation under the America AI Covenant. Humans set the agenda, deliberate, make decisions, own errors, and approve every public artifact.

Can people opposed to generative AI participate?

Yes. Their participation is essential, and the process must give them actual influence over boundaries and prohibited uses—not use their presence as a claim of balance.

Where is it happening?

The venue and participation format are still being planned. We will publish them with capacity, cost, accessibility, funding, and attendance information when those details are real.
