1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of America.co's website, America House, our forum, gallery, civic-technology tools, newsletters, events, and any related services (collectively, the “Services”). By accessing or using the Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
2. Who We Are
America.co builds media, technology, community, and civic infrastructure that help Americans understand one another, surface better ideas, discover better leaders, and coordinate around the future they actually want. We are not a candidate, a campaign committee, or a political party, and nothing in the Services should be construed as an endorsement of, or coordination with, any specific candidate for office unless explicitly and clearly stated otherwise.
3. Eligibility & Accounts
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Services. If you create an account on our forum or another community feature, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.
4. Using the Services
You agree to use the Services only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:
- Use the Services to violate any applicable law or regulation;
- Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Services or related systems;
- Use automated means (bots, scrapers) to access the Services except as expressly permitted;
- Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity;
- Upload malicious code or attempt to compromise the security of the Services; or
- Use the Services to harass, defame, or threaten any person.
5. Community Guidelines & Conduct
Our forum, gallery, and comparable community spaces exist to help millions of Americans engage with politics and civic life beyond the traditional left-right divide. To keep that space useful, when participating you agree to:
- Engage in good faith — debate ideas, not attack people;
- Avoid spam, harassment, hate speech, or coordinated inauthentic behavior;
- Respect the privacy of other members; and
- Follow any additional community guidelines posted within a specific feature.
We reserve the right to moderate, remove content, or suspend or terminate access for any user who violates these Terms or our community guidelines, at our reasonable discretion.
6. Your Content
When you post, submit, or upload content to the Services (“User Content”), you retain ownership of it. You grant America.co a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, display, distribute, and adapt your User Content solely for the purpose of operating, promoting, and improving the Services (for example, featuring a forum post in our media or event RSVP photos in a recap).
You represent that you have the necessary rights to submit your User Content and that it does not infringe or violate any third party's rights. We may remove User Content that violates these Terms at our discretion.
7. Our Content & Intellectual Property
The Services, including our name, logo, design, manifesto, articles, videos, research, and software (excluding User Content and third-party materials), are owned by America House, Inc. and protected by intellectual-property laws. You may view, download, and share our content for personal, non-commercial use with appropriate attribution. You may not reproduce, modify, or commercially exploit our content without our prior written permission.
8. Civic & Political Content Disclaimer
America.co publishes commentary, research, polling, and civic tools intended to inform public discussion, surface leaders and ideas, and encourage participation in democracy. This content reflects editorial and research judgment and is provided for informational and civic-engagement purposes only. It does not constitute legal, financial, or official government advice, and it should not be treated as an authoritative source for voting deadlines, ballot access, or other election-administration requirements — always confirm those details with your state or local election authority.
9. Events & America House
If you attend an event or visit America House, you agree to follow posted rules, staff instructions, and applicable law. Attendance may be photographed or recorded for use in our media (see our Privacy Policy for details). Event details, guests, and programming are subject to change.
10. Third-Party Links & Coalition Partners
The Services may link to or feature tools from coalition and civic partners. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party websites, content, or practices. Your use of any third-party service is governed by that party's own terms and privacy policy.
11. Disclaimers
THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, OR THAT ANY CONTENT, POLLING, OR CIVIC DATA WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE.
12. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, AMERICA HOUSE, INC. AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AFFILIATES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICES, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THE SERVICES WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100).
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless America House, Inc. and its officers, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Services, your User Content, or your violation of these Terms.
14. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties. You may stop using the Services at any time.
15. Governing Law & Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which America House, Inc. is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Services will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in that jurisdiction, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.
Plain-language summary (this box is not a substitute for the Terms above): Be respectful, don't break the law or these rules, own what you post but let us feature it as part of the community, and understand our civic content is for public understanding — not official guidance.
16. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms here with a new “Last Updated” date. Continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
